Sponsers of the 2003 "No Taxation without Representation Act of 2003"

Legislative Update

Currently there is a bill to provide for full voting representation in Congress for the citizens of the District of Columbia in the United States Senate and Congress. Introduced for the first time last year as the "No Taxation Without Representation Act of 2002", it provides representation for Washington DC in the form of 2 US Senators and one US representative. It also increases the size of the Senate and Congress to accomadate the additional members.

United States Senate bill S. 617 was introduced March 13, 2003 by Senator Joeseph Lebierman[D-CT]. To date it has 14 cosponsers and was referred to the Committee on Governmental Affairs.

United States Congress bill HR. 1285 was introduced simultaneously by Washington DC's Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton. It has 76 cosponsers and was referred to the Subcommittee on the Constitution.
